Montserrat

Montserrat (play / mɒntsəræt /) is a British overseas territory and overseas territory of the European Union is located in the Leeward Islands, part of a chain of islands called the Lesser Antilles in the West Indies. The island has a size of about 16 km (10 miles) long and 11 km (7 miles) wide, then 40 km (25 miles) of coastline.  Christopher Columbus gave the name to Montserrat on his second visit to the New World in 1493, after the mountain of Montserrat is located in the Spanish province of Barcelona, ​​in Catalonia. Montserrat is nicknamed the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean, so it looks like the coast of Ireland and the Irish descendants of its inhabitants.

Montserrat Georgian town of Plymouth's historic capital was destroyed and two thirds of the population of the island were forced to flee abroad by an eruption of previously dormant Soufriere Hills, which began July 18, 1995.  The eruption continues today on a much smaller, with limited damage to the areas around Plymouth including its port facilities and airport Bramble former prime minister, whose remains were buried by volcanic flows February 11, 2010. An "exclusion zone" that extends from the southern coast of the island to the north to parts of the Belham Valley has been imposed by the size of the existing volcanic dome and the resulting potential pyroclastic activity. Currently, visitors are not allowed into the exclusion zone, but an amazing view of the destruction of Plymouth can be had from the top of the hill in the Bay of Islands Garibaldi.

Relatively quiet since the beginning of 2010, the volcano continues to be closely monitored Montserrat Volcano Observatory.

The people of Brad is currently the temporary center of government, any product based on a new town at Little Bay in the north of the island.
