When asked about the report of a Argentina’s Newspaper that she had used forged documents to qualify Miss Angola in United Kingdom, Leila Lopes confirmed: “I provided all the required documents!”

She was crowned by reigning Miss Teen USA Kamie Crawford of Maryland. Doty is the second Texan to be named Miss Teen USA. Christie Lee Woods, who was later an “Amazing Race” contestant, won the title in 1996.
