Ron Zook admits to not knowing the score when he went for two

LBsports- Ron Zook may have Illinois 6-0 on the season, but that doesn’t mean he’s not the same Ron Zook we love to mock.

After Illinois scored a touchdown to go up 20-13 Saturday in the second quarter against Indiana, Zook elected to go for two. A simple extra point would have put his team up by eight, forcing Indiana to make a two-point conversion to tie the game.

“We were down five, right? Up five, I mean,” he said after the game. “It was 20-13? Up seven?

“Maybe I didn’t know what the score was,” Zook said. “That’s happened to me before. It’s usually when we’re behind. [This will] give you something to pound us about.”

Did Zook say he forgets the score a lot? That can't be right.

It was a bizarre call, and the attempt failed, making Zook look even dumber. It wouldn’t matter though because Illinois went on to win 41-20, but Zook’s explanation for attempting two was classic.

And Zook has Illinois 6-0 and ranked 16th in the nation, but their first five games were at home and this last game was at Indiana which is really like a home game/bye week. Next game they are home vs Ohio State , which should be a close battle. But if they can beat Arizona State (2nd best Pac 10 team imo) at home they should be able to win this one.

The real test is a three game stretch at Penn State, then home vs both Michigan and Wisconsin. Having those games at home are huge, because everyone knows they are gonna get out-coachced in those matchups.

PS-He couldn't have said he forgets the score during games, no one is stupid enough to say its happened multiple times.
